Northumbria Primary Care has welcomed its NHS National Staff Survey performance, thanking staff for their ongoing commitment to each other and patients.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbria Primary Care manages 12 GP practices, serving over 120,000 patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside. The recent addition of Valens Medical Partnership and Coquet Medical Group has further enhanced NPC’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare services in Northumberland.
This year, 78% of Northumbria Primary Care staff participated in the survey, a notable increase from the 73% response rate last year.
NPC received a ‘best in class’ result for three themes and above the national average result in eight of the nine themes. Highlights include having the top score for being ‘compassionate and inclusive’, ‘rewarding and recognising’ staff and fostering a workforce that believes they ‘have a voice that counts’.
David Hedgcock, managing director of Northumbria Primary Care, said:
“At the core of our mission is the delivery of the highest standard of care to our patients. Achieving this requires a motivated and engaged workforce. The NHS Staff Survey serves as a vital tool, allowing us to identify areas of excellence within our organisation and understand opportunities for improvement. We are committed to using this valuable feedback to enhance our overall staff experience.
“All of our colleagues contribute to creating a positive working environment. I’d like to thank our teams for making Northumbria Primary Care a great place to work for all of us.”
He added:
“During a period of significant change, it’s heartening to witness our teams reporting high levels of job satisfaction. As we continue to expand and welcome new members to our team, maintaining a high level of staff contentment remains a top priority. It’s incredibly encouraging to hear that our teams believe that NPC is an inclusive place to work that rewards their hard work and listens to them.”
Dr Phillipa Male, a GP partner at Northumbria Primary Care, highlighted the benefits of working for Northumbria Primary Care:
“Fostering a positive staff experience hinges on creating an environment where our teams not only feel comfortable but truly appreciated. At Northumbria Primary Care, we have embraced an innovative approach to primary care, deviating from the conventional GP model. It’s gratifying to see our teams responding positively to our approach and letting us know where we’re excelling.
“While we’ve had some fantastic results in this year’s survey, we recognise the importance of not resting on our laurels. Our recent survey has highlighted areas where we can improve staff experience, and we are committed to working closely with our teams to make the necessary changes. The insight gained from the National Staff Survey will play an important role in shaping and enhancing that experience.”
