Dr Nigel Twelves
Nigel Twelves graduated from Newcastle University Medical School in 1988. He trained as a General Practitioner on the Northumbria Vocational Training Scheme and, after qualifying as a GP in 1993, gained additional experience as a Staff Grade Doctor in obstetrics, paediatrics and psychiatry before joining Ponteland Medical Group as a Partner in 1994.
He became a GP trainer in 1998 and qualified as an Occupational Physician in 2006. He subsequently became an Aeromedical Examiner for the Civil Aviation Authority and an Appointed Doctor for asbestos, lead and ionising radiation surveillance with the Health and Safety Executive.
He is a director of 'Pointnorth', a community interest company developed in collaboration with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and represents Ponteland Medical Group at the local clinical commissioning group meetings. His areas of special clinical interest are musculoskeletal medicine and paediatrics.
